Rep. Brad Roae (R-Crawford/Erie) has announced that his offices in Meadville, Linesville, and Cranesville are now accepting appointments to assist individuals in completing their Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications. The program is available to residents who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers who are 50 years or older, or individuals who are 18 years or older and have a disability, as long as they meet the income guidelines.

Roae highlighted that several hundred more people in the 6th Legislative District will qualify for the program this year due to recent legislation that increased the income eligibility limits. These limits will now be adjusted annually based on the Consumer Price Index. The current income limit for this year's program is set at $45,000. Roae explained that only half of a person's Social Security income counts towards the eligibility limits. For example, if a retired couple received a total of $50,000 in Social Security in 2023, it would only equate to $25,000 for the purpose of determining eligibility.

In addition to the income eligibility changes, the maximum rebate has also been increased from $650 to $1,000. The program is funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery, rather than sales tax or personal income tax revenue.

With the expectation of a higher demand for assistance this year, Roae encourages individuals to call his Meadville office at the Park Avenue Plaza to schedule an appointment. The phone number to make an appointment is 814-336-1136. It is important to note that the Linesville office is only open on Tuesdays, while the Cranesville office operates on Thursdays.

The 6th Legislative District encompasses a wide range of areas including Meadville, various townships, and boroughs in Crawford and Erie counties. Roae's goal is to ensure that eligible individuals in his district receive the necessary support to complete their Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications.
