Rep. Brad Roae has announced that 28 fire and emergency medical services companies in the 6th Legislative District have received grants totaling over $382,000. The funding comes from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services grant program.

“While not large amounts, this grant program provides important funding for smaller needs of our fire and ambulance companies,” said Roae. “Even one less fundraiser allows for more time devoted to protecting our community. I strongly supported the legislation that bolstered this program and remain committed to helping our emergency responders.”

The grant initiative began in 2000 and is available to both volunteer and career fire companies, as well as emergency medical services and rescue squads throughout Pennsylvania. The grants can be used for various purposes including construction or repair of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, debt reduction, and training. Recipients must file their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner to receive funds.
