Borough of Saegertown recently issued the following announcement.
August Newsletter
Borough Office Open:
Until further notice – the Borough Office will be open with same conditions, using COVID precautions.
Electronics Recycling:
Once again, the Jordan Family Foundation will sponsor an electronics recycling program this year,
during the month of August. This project is for Borough Residents ONLY. We will accept the following list of items at the Borough Building during any weekday. Please call first to make sure the office is open.
-TV’s, computers, copiers, fax machines, printers, radios, stereos, old phones, portable AC, humidifiers,
Re-chargeable batteries
-You must be able to unload the items you bring to the Borough Building.
We will NOT take:
-Speakers, cords, microwaves, vacuum cleaners. Put them out with your trash.
-Broken TV screens are subject to a $10 fee.
-Anyone bringing in items from outside the Borough will not be permitted to participate in the program in the future, and could be subject to theft charges.
Labor Day Garbage:
Garbage will be picked up on Monday Sept. 6 at the regular time.
“Free” Signs on Garbage:
If you place a “free” sign on an object the refuse collectors will not pick up.
Putting Out Brush:
When the Borough employees pick up brush, please do not put out any more for a week. They will not make a second pass after picking it up. This is a service that we provide, but we cannot do it every day. We try to do it about once a week depending on our work schedule or the weather. We will NOT take entire trees, or items such as shrubs that are too large for one man to pick up. Brush must be neatly piled in bundles no more than 5 feet long.
Trees:
The Borough is only responsible for the trees we have planted over the years. We did not plant any trees along any alley or anywhere east of the railroad tracks. Trees on private property are the responsibility of the owner. Remember: if you have a tree removed, make arrangements to have the brush and wood hauled away.
Driving on Fresh Pavement-
–Don’t turn your wheels until moving. It will damage the pavement and eventually cause a pothole.
-Use care until it rains and the pavement is fully set up.
Reunion:
The SHS Class of ’66 will revisit sports memories at their Sports Reunion (as part of their 55-year Class Reunion) on August 21st, from 2-4 pm at the Giles Farm on Brookhouser Hill. Those with memories or photos to share, especially from the Saegertown classes of ’64, ’65, ’66, ’67 & ’68, are invited to attend.
