City announces participation in National Night Out on August 19

Genbusiness011

City of Meadville issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.

In the same community-building spirit as the membership-based National Night Out, area residents are invited to come out on Thursday, August 19, 2021 to meet city personnel and the equipment they use. Vehicles and equipment from the City of Meadville Fire Department, City of Meadville Police Department, and the City Public Works Department will be on display on the West side of the Diamond in front of the City Building from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for residents to view and tour.

City staff from each of the departments will be available to answer questions and explain equipment usage. While not a registered member of the official National Night Out, the community goal remains the same. According to Fire Chief Pat Wiley who is spearheading the event, “we wanted to give it a try this year and I didn’t think it was necessary to join an organization to promote good relationships between our law enforcement, fire and public works departments and our residents. We can do that on our own.” Wiley encourages residents to come out and tour the equipment. For more information contact Chief Wiley, ph. 814-333-3300 or email pwiley@cityofmeadville.org.
