Allegheny College women's tennis placed its entire singles and doubles lineup on the 2022 All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Teams, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
The 2022 PAC champions, who finished the fall with an undefeated conference record, had six players recognized for their performances in both doubles and singles. Additionally, second-year head coach Dave Hayden was crowned the PAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Gators through a remarkable fall season.
Hayden, who was previously named the PAC Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2020-21 as the head coach at Westminster College, led Allegheny to a 14-0 (8-0 PAC) record, with 10 of those wins coming by 9-0 final scores. In the regular season, the Gators only lost a total of five matches, while winning 69 of 72 possible matches against PAC opponents.
Included on the All-PAC First Team were Allegheny's top three singles players and top two doubles teams. The remainder of the singles lineup was voted to the All-PAC Second Team, while the No. 3 doubles tandem was tabbed an Honorable Mention.
First-team honorees from AC were Katherine Marks (Argyle, Texas/Liberty Christian), Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic), Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School), and Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area).
Marks finished 10-2 as a singles performer with seven wins at the No. 1 position. Her only losses came against the 2022 PAC Player of the Year, Maria Herrera from Franciscan University. Swan, who won the championship-clinching point in the title match against Franciscan, was 12-0 in singles. The only two Gators with more singles wins were Legrand (13-0) and Lounder (14-0).
As a tandem, Marks and Lounder were unbeaten at 11-0 and earned 10 wins as Allegheny's No. 2 team. Swan and Legrand, who claimed All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors last season, went 8-3 overall and earned all eight wins atop the doubles lineup.
