PENNCREST SCHOOL DISTRICT: Limited Virtual Hybrid Option

Virtual

Penncrest School District issued the following announcement.

Dear PENNCREST Families: I hope this correspondence finds you and your family healthy and enjoying the final weeks of summer vacation. Our teachers and staff have spent the summer months preparing for our students to return. The first day of school is September 2nd and we cannot wait to welcome you back.

The purpose of this letter is to clarify our Limited Virtual Hybrid option, available for students in Grades 4 – 12.

Last week our health and safety plan identified a date of August 28th at noon (see below) to register. To clarify, only parents not planning to send their children to school on September 2 or 3 and 4 should register. This will permit our schools to plan accordingly.

The Limited Virtual Hybrid instructional model is designed to accommodate families and offer middle ground. This option mirrors our teachers’ daily instruction and assignments. Our PENNCREST Cyber Academy aligns to PA standards, but does not closely align to daily classroom educational activities. We have closed enrollment in the PENNCREST Cyber Academy, but anticipate additional seat availability. Please contact Ken Newman with questions or to be added to the wait list. knewman@penncrest.org.

Examples of when you should consider participating in Limited Virtual Hybrid:

• Families are waiting to see if the county experiences a spike in September prior to sending their child to school

• A temporary family arrangement has an immunocompromised member living in the house

• A relative is visiting from a “hot spot”

• A student has underlying health issues

• A family member is in isolation or quarantine

• The number of positive Covid-19 cases are increasing at a rate that causes a family to be uncomfortable

• The student is sick or has a fever, but feels well enough to complete school work Essentially, every student who plans on attending in-person instruction may participate in Limited Virtual Hybrid at some point during the school year due to illness, a school closure, or a family quarantine.

This program is not developed for students “to come and go as they please” or attend “when convenient”. Please contact your school principal or me with questions.
