CITY OF MEADVILLE: Parking Meter Enforcement and Fire Department Inspections are reinstated

Parking

City of Meadville issued the following announcement on July 02.

Meadville City Manager Andy Walker has announced that the enforcement of metered parking in the City will resume effective Monday, July 6. Walker had ordered a temporary cessation of enforcement and the furlough of the parking enforcement officers last March during the initial stages of the COVID 19 pandemic.

In another move, Walker, with concurrence from Fire Chief Evan Hasko, has announced the reopening of the fire station to the public. Visitors are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

The Fire Department will also, effective immediately, resume non-emergency functions, including the fire safety inspection program, the inspection and distribution of child safety seats, re-inspections, fire drills and training classes.

Walker took action in mid-March to close City Buildings and cease parking enforcement and inspections after the City’s Declaration of Disaster Emergency and upon recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the PA Department of Health. While the City remains under a Declaration of Disaster Emergency, the changes to restrictions by both Governor Wolf and the CDC contributed to Walker’s decision.

Walker, in addition to serving as City Manager, also serves as the City’s Emergency Management Coordinator, charged with coordinating local government services and response in emergency situations; and has been in regular communication with other relevant local, county and state agencies.

He urges citizens to continue to follow guidance from the CDC and PA Department of Health that encourages proper hygiene, cleaning procedures, social distancing, and other efforts to mitigate community spread of COVID-19. Staff will continue to utilize the City website at www.cityofmeadville.org and the City’s Facebook page to post regular updates.
