A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County in Illinois regarding vendor payments on September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The specific information requested includes a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024. The desired fields for each payment are the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount.
As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to such records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have therefore requested this information under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
We have also asked for these records preferably in an electronic format and appealed for a fee waiver given our role as a media entity disseminating information to the public.
We await the response from Dekalb County and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
