STEPTOE AND JOHNSTON LLP: Bloomberg Law Names Vishal Gupta to '40 Under 40' List

Business discussion

Steptoe and Johnson LLP issued the following announcement on Jul. 14.

Bloomberg Law has named Steptoe partner Vishal Gupta to the inaugural edition of "They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40," an award recognizing the accomplishments of sterling young lawyers nationwide. Culled from a strong pool of candidates, the 40 honorees were selected based on their records of success for their clients as well as their leadership contributions to their firms and their communities.

In an interview published July 16, Gupta, who is one of only four intellectual property lawyers on the list, describes several of the litigation successes, including his work on the Amgen v. Sanofi case, an influential biotech case pertaining to the scope antibody patents. He also discusses his representation of Apotex in heavily litigated cases related to blockbuster anti-cancer therapies, as well as his work for Sandoz in its ongoing patent litigation with Allergan over the popular drug for eyelash growth, Latisse®.

At Steptoe, Gupta focuses on complex patent litigation in a range of life sciences, handling technologies related to biologics and pharmaceuticals. He litigates in federal courts throughout the country and has handled numerous cases and trials related to blockbuster pharmaceuticals and biologics. He also has extensive experience in strategic counseling, due diligence, licensing, technology transactions, opinions, pre-suit investigations, and settlement agreements/negotiations.

This is the latest in a string of recognitions for Gupta. Both Law360 and the New York Law Journal have recognized him as a "Rising Star," and IAM has listed him in the "IAM Patent 1000" every year since 2016.
